Yakima Police Warn Of Phone Scam

Yakima Police are warning residents of a scam after people reported getting calls from the Yakima Police Department number, which is 575-6200 and other local numbers.
The people have stated that they were told they have an outstanding warrant.
Police say somehow the scammers have been able to steal the police department phone number and other local numbers which show up on caller ID.
Authorities say all you need to remember is you will never be called by YPD or other law enforcement agencies stating you have a warrant.
Law enforcement does not operate that way.  If you receive such a call, the best thing to do is hang up.
