Yakima Police Identify Victim In Latest Gang Related Shooting

Yakima Police have identified the man killed in a gang related shooting early Wednesday in the 1400 block of Cherry Avenue as Cuahutemoc Camacho-Salamca.  Police spokesman Mike Bastinelli says he was walking on the sidewalk after leaving a friends home when he was shot. "The suspect we believe came out of a vehicle and started walking toward the victim."
Bastinelli says they don't know if any words were exchanged but the suspect then pulled out a gun and fired a fatal shot. Salamca died of a gunshot wound to the chest. Bastinelli says Salamca was a former gang member but he reportedly had no recent dealings with gangs in Yakima before his death.
The shooting was reported at about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.
