A drive-by shooting Sunday in Yakima resulted in a 16-year-old being shot in the head. The 16-year-old victim is being treated at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Police were called to a home in the 900 block of East Chestnut at about 11:30 pm Sunday for a report of shots fired.
Police arrived to find the 16-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound
When they arrived they found the 16-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to his head. Police say the suspect vehicle parked in the area and suspects fired shots into the home. The 16-year-old victim was struck as he was standing outside. Authorities believe the shooting was gang related. No suspects were arrested.
Two teens face charges in connection with a drive-by shooting in early May
Meanwhile prosecutors are charging two teens arrested in the shooting death of a Yakima man in a May 15 drive-by shooting.
The teens face charges in Yakima County Superior Court Tuesday.
43-year-old Randy Scholl was fatally shot as he was standing outside a home in the 900 block of La Salle Street on May 15. He died at the scene. After a chase and crash of the suspect vehicle two suspects were arrested 16-year-old Abraham Garcia and 18-year-old David Cordero.
The 16-year-old faces charges as an adult
Both face charges of first-degree murder, drive-by shooting, first-degree assault and eluding police Tuesday in Yakima County Superior Court. Washington State law says anyone charged with murder at the age of 16-years-old is automatically charged in adult court.
