Yakima Police Arrest Suspect in Murder of 14-Year-Old
Yakima Police say they've arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with the September 14 shooting death of a 14-year-old Yakima boy. The arrest comes days after Charles Taylor was shot with a shotgun at a home on Willow Street. Police say both teens were involved with local gangs. The suspect, who refused to give a motive in the shooting is expected to be charged with first degree manslaughter and second degree possession of a firearm. He's also expected to be charged as an adult.
14-year-old Taylor died at a Yakima hospital after being shot in the back of the legs with a shotgun. Capt. Jay Seely says “We believe, based on information obtained from individuals who were inside the residence at the time of the shooting, the suspect was recklessly pointing the shotgun at several people inside the apartment before the gun was discharged, killing Charles,” Police have recovered the weapon after serving a search warrant at the home where the shooting happened.
