Yakima Man Shot Trying To Recover His Stolen Vehicle

Yakima Police say a man who tried to stop someone from stealing his car was shot this morning. Police spokesman Mike Bastinelli says the man told officers someone stole his car at about 3:00 a.m from a home in the 1300 block of south 18th street. Bastinelli says the man drove his other car until he found his stolen vehicle about a block away. "He tried to ram his vehicle several times as the suspect tried to get away."
After wrecking both vehicles the owner of the vehicle climbed out of his car to confront the thief but was then shot by one of the suspects friends. The two then ran off and the man was left with a non life threatening gunshot wound. The man, who hasn't been identified is being treated at a Yakima hospital Today.
