A Yakima bank is once again offering scholarships for area students. Yakima Federal Savings and Loan. The local business that helped to save the 4th of July Celebration at State Fair Park is awarding $120,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors at area high schools this year. Spokesman Paul Crawford. "We're awarding 60 scholarships of $2,000 a piece or $120,000 in scholarships. This is a program that started back in 1975 and it's grown ever since."
Crawford says over the last 43 years Yakima federal savings and loan has provided over $2 million in college scholarships. He says students need a minimum 3.5 grade point average to apply for the scholarships.
