Yakima County Sheriff’s Officials Say Escaped Inmate Not In Yakima

A week ago Tuesday 2 inmates at the Yakima County Jail on Pacific Avenue escaped through a door with a faulty lock. One inmate, Chad Tipton is back in custody but Yakima County Sheriff's Sgt. Detective Mike Russell says they're still searching for the other inmate Steven Roche. "We have reason to believe Mr. Roche has long since left the Yakima area. There are no indications that he was with Mr. Tipton in the Olympia area."
Russell says at this point they don't know where Roche is hiding. But he says they're working on tips from the public. A tip lead authorities to the location of the other inmate, Chad Tipton who was arrested in Olympia last weekend.
Both men escaped through a door with a faulty lock. All the door locks leading to the outside have been changed at the jail on Pacific Avenue. If you have any information about the location of Steven Roche call 911.
