For years fire departments have worked together to help save lives and that partnership will be re affirmed during the Yakima City Council meeting tonight. The council is expected to approve a mutual or automatic aid agreement with the West Valley Fire Department. City Spokesman Randy Beehler says “the action by the city council formalizes a longstanding relationship between the two departments.”

Under the agreement the West Valley Fire Department would help with emergency calls west of 40th Avenue. The city fire department would assist in the Cowiche Canyon/Scenic Drive and Spring Creek areas.
