Yakima and Union Gap Firefighters May Merge

Yakima and Union Gap Fire Departments may join forces to create a regional fire department or fire authority. The Yakima City Council is meeting at 9 next Tuesday morning at City Hall to talk further about the proposal. The idea is to create the authority to better serve the needs of both cities. Voters would have to approve the move before it's put in place.
