THOME HITS 600TH HOME RUN: The Minnesota Twins' Jim Thome hit his 600th home run last night (August 15th) in Detroit, becoming only the eighth player in Major League history to reach the landmark. The 40-year-old slugger got his 600th homer on a three-run shot in the seventh inning of the Twins' 9-6 defeat of the Tigers. It came just one inning after he hit Number 599, a two-run homer that broke a 3-3 tie.
