DRIVER ALERT!

Do you ride Yakima Transit? Your ride on the bus could be impacted by work city crews will start on Wednesday and be completed on Friday.

Yakima city crews will be busy with water line work starting Wednesday, February 24 that will close a portion of 6th Avenue between River Road and Madison Avenue. The work is expected to be completed on Friday, February 26. Work on the project will happen between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day. A press release from the city says because of the heavy traffic volume in the area where the work is happening, drivers can expect delays. If the route is in your commute you may want to take an alternate way to work or wherever you are going this week.
The press release from the city says Yakima Transit will be impacted by the work.
"Due to the road closure, Yakima Transit Routes 3 and 4 will be detoured from Wednesday through Friday. The following detours will avoid River Road between 6th Avenue and 16th Avenue via Madison Avenue:

Route 3 will detour at River Road and 16th to continue down Madison Avenue and resume its regular route at 6th and Madison.
Route 4 will detour at 6th and Madison and resume its turn to regular route at 16th and River Road.

For more information about Yakima Transit routes call 575-6175 or visit Yakima Transit.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary."
