Washington Avenue Water Line Work Could Impact Your Commute
Yakima city crews continue with road and utility work as the weather allows. If your commute takes you down Washington Avenue you might want to avoid a section of the road this week.
The work will happen Monday through Friday
City crews are doing some water line work that will result in traffic restrictions on Washington Avenue between 16th Avenue and 10th Avenue starting Monday, December 6th, through Friday, December 10th. A city press release says the work on the project happens from 7:00 am and last until 3:30 pm each week day.
If you live in the area expect water to be on and off during the project
"City of Yakima water customers in the project area can expect water outages during project work hours.
Traffic will be limited to one lane in both directions in the project area. Due to heavy traffic volumes on Washington Avenue, drivers can expect delays. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed.
Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.
Crews say garbage collection could be impacted
Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.
The repairs may cause interruptions in scheduled refuse collection. Contact the City of Yakima Refuse Division at 575-6005 for more information."
As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
