Warm Up Auto Thefts On The Way

It's almost that time of year again. A time when Yakima Police deal with a rash of auto thefts. A lot of people like to warm up vehicles in the morning and a lot of auto thieves like to steal those cars. Authorities say if you like to warm up your vehicle get yourself an extra set of keys so you can lock the doors. You can also purchase a remote starter that will allow you to start your locked vehicle while inside your home.

Vehicles are stolen all year long in Yakima but police say they see a rash of thefts during the fall months when the temperatures begin to change with cooler mornings.
Since January 459 vehicles have been stolen in the city of Yakima. During the same time last year 403 vehicles were stolen within Yakima City limits.
