THE FBI KEEPS ALL THE NUMBERS AND THEY'RE GROWING EVERY YEAR

WASHINGTON STATE ALSO HAS A BIG BURGLARY PROBLEM

But you live in Washington state and it's number 4 where the study found an average of 501 break-ins annually per 100,000 residents, meaning residents are the 4th most likely to suffer a home burglary. Rounding out the top five is South Carolina where residents report some 437 burglaries to police every year per 100,000 people.

GET TO KNOW YOUR NEIGHBORS AND USE TECHNOLOGY TO PROTECT YOUR PROPERTY

Yakima Police and Police all around the state say a majority of burglaries don't happen during the night but rather during the day when many people are at work. They recommend you lock all doors and windows and even turn on radios or TV's even lights to make it look like you are home when you are away. Police also say it's vitally important to get to know your neighbors so they can be the eyes and ears for your property when you are not at home. Burglar alarms and cameras are also popular ways to protect your property from burglars busy in Yakima and Wa State.
