It's cold and veterans in Yakima need your help to stay warm. The Yakima County Veterans Program is now collecting cold weather gear and food for local veterans looking for help. Program Director Dave Brown says they give the items and food to vets who come to the office for a variety of help. Brown says they're collecting coats, gloves, knit hats and blankets. They're also hoping people will donate soups and snacks and other food and anything else that a veteran could use to keep warm or help them through the winter. You can drop off donations at KIT studios at 4010 Summitview. We'll continue to collect the food and other items through the winter months.
