The U.S. Marines have kicked off the Toys for Tots drive in Yakima and you'll find more than 20 toys for tots collection boxes around the community. SSgt. Shawn Robinson says they hope to place thousands of toys in the hands of thousands of kids again this Christmas season. "Last year we were able to help about 5,000 kids after collecting some 13,000 toys."
Robinson says they collect toys for kids from infants to 17-years-old. You can give a new toy or donate cash which Robinson says they use to purchase extra toys and items for older teens.

You'll find the donation boxes around the community including the local Papa Murphy's, libraries and the Yakima police station. The collection boxes will be picked up and the toys distributed after December 12.
Families in Yakima can begin signing up for the toys Today at the website yakima-wa.toysfortots.org.
