Owners of Union Gap's Los Hernandez Tamales celebrated in Chicago Monday night. Owners of the Union Gap restaurant received the America's Classics award  from the James Beard Foundation during a award dinner in Chicago. The restaurant has been operated by Felipe Hernandez and family since 1990. His daughter, Rachel Wilburn says the experience has been awesome. "It's been an amazing and incredible ride to be here and be a part of this. We're meeting so many people within the industry."
Wilburn says she believes its the love and care that go into making the Los Hernandez Tamales that set theirs aside from others in the valley and the nation. She says while the family is excited they're also busy with plans to open a second location in West Yakima, at 65th Avenue and Nob Hill in the near future.
