Washington State Patrol Troopers are investigating a fatal crash reported in Yakima on Tuesday. Officials say two men from Toppenish and Grandview were killed when they crashed head-on into another vehicle while driving east in the westbound lanes of I-82 near the Yakima Avenue interchange. Troopers say the other driver from Moxee was injured and taken to a Yakima hospital.
A chase started early Tuesday in Kittitas County when deputies tried to stop the driver of the vehicle because he was wanted on a warrant. But the driver took off eventually reaching Yakima where he drove the wrong way on the interstate. The crash was reported at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The driver 35-year-old Seth Button of Toppenish and his passenger 40-year-old Neil Sartain of Grandview were killed in the crash. The other driver 60-year-old Curtis Hawks of Moxee was injured and is expected to recover at a Yakima's Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital.
