Two people who lead police on a high speed chase after a robbery face charges after being arrested on Tuesday night. Deputies from the Yakima County Sheriff's Office say a 28-year-old man picked up two hitchhikers in the 2600 block of Donald Wapato Road at about 6:00 p.m. Tuesday. The two suspects then stole the car at gunpoint. Authorities were called to the area and spotted the stolen vehicle and a high speed chase started. The suspect vehicle crashed into another vehicle at Highway 97 and Lateral A but kept going and an officer finally crashed his vehicle into the suspect vehicle at the East end of Valley Mall Blvd. near I-82. Two people were arrested. the driver, a 27-year-old man from Toppenish and a female passenger, a 32-year-old Wapato resident. Both face numerous charges including first degree robbery. Both are being held in the Yakima County jail.
