Todd’s Take: Valley Athletes Shine At Annual Sports Awards

I was honored to be the co-Master of Ceremonies with KIMA TV's Allan Sillence at Wednesday's (June 6) Sports Awards Luncheon put on by the Yakima Valley Sports Commission that annually honors athletes, teams and coaches in 21 different high school sports.
The 'Team of the Year' category, as chosen by the sports department of the Yakima Herald-Republic, could not have been a more difficult choice. West Valley Vollyball, Toppenish Wrestling and Selah Baseball were the nominees. All three groups were WIAA State Champions. In the end, the Toppenish Wildcats were deemed most worthy having six individual state champs on their squad.

The Female Athlete of the Year was West Valley Vollyballer Shea Rubright and her Male counterpart was Kittitas cager Brock Ravet.
