Test Results Negative No Coronavirus in Yakima County

Test results show a Yakima resident does not have coronavirus. Officials at the Yakima Health District say the test results from the Washington State Department of Health are negative meaning there are no cases of COVID-19 or coronavirus in Yakima County. A news release says district officials were notified on February 28 of the possible case. The person self quarantined until the negative test results were released on Monday.
The release says on January 21 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention  and the Washington State Department of Health announced the first case of COVID-19 in the United States. Since then, a total of 13 cases have been confirmed in Washington State in Snohomish and King County.
No cases or suspected cases have been found in Yakima County.
For now, the district continues to urge frequent hand washing and covering coughs and sneezes. Additional preventive measures the public can take include:
"Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
Avoid contact with people who are sick.
Stay home while you are sick.
Ensure your family has a plan for extended periods of illness.
If you are experiencing symptoms such as runny nose, headache, cough, sore throat and/or fever as well as have recently traveled to high travel alert area (China, Iran, Italy, South Korea, Japan), contact your primary care provider immediately."
