Yakima Police say a man scared students and teachers at the Jewett Child Development Center on East F Street Tuesday morning. Police spokesman Mike Bastinelli says the man was has documented mental problems.

Bastinelli says the man stood at the fence at the center and told kids he was going to kill them and gestured as if he had a gun. Officers were called and arrested the man nearby. No gun was found.
Bastinelli says officers deal with people with mental health problems on a daily basis in Yakima.
He says the man was arrested and jailed. He faces 21 counts of felony harassment.
