The Yakima Salvation Army is looking for sponsors for what's called the Salvation Army Project 700. It's a program that helps needy families in the Yakima Valley.

THE SALVATION ARMY WORKS WITH SCHOOLS

Salvation Army Director Lisa Sargent says they work with area school counselors from local elementary schools to find needy students and then they match those students up with a sponsor from the community. A statement from the Yakima Salvation Army says the initiative relies on the "generosity of financial donors to ensure that all students receive the support they need."

Through these donations, The Salvation Army can continue its mission to meet the needs of students in the community.
It could be an individual, a company or anyone who's willing to help. Each child is allowed to spend $100 to purchase new winter clothes  jackets, shoes, pants, shirts and more. The kids can also purchase winter clothing along with hats and gloves.

KIDS ARE SHOPPING NEXT MONTH

The Salvation Army plans the shopping days in November. Financial Sponsors pledge $100 per child. If you would like to be a financial donor and would like to also shop for a child email Kirsten.Markus@usw.salvationarmy.org Or call 509-952-5096 Envoy Lisa.
Along with Project 700 the Salvation Army is also collecting new unwrapped toys for the annual Toys for Tots program. Toy boxes are now located throughout the community to gather toys for Christmas.
