According to reverse search company Social Catfish a majority of the scams happen during the tax season.

Police say hang up or ignore messages to call back and never give any of your personal financial information out over the phone.

Last year, BBB processed about 2,400 complaints (nationally) against tax return preparation services and related businesses (including accountants).
