Sweden, Sweden, Sweden, we are constantly told to look to Sweden as a model of sophisticated modern behavior.  Why can’t we be more like Sweden, they ask.  Well, for starters they wear scratchy wool sweaters and then there are 9 and a half million Swedes compared to 320 million Americans so there’s that.  But maybe Sweden is on to something we’ll at least want to take a look at.

Per-Erik Muskos, a 42-year-old local council member for Övertorneå in northern Sweden, proposed this week that Swedes should take a one-hour paid break from work to go home and have sex with their partners.   Again, that is like a paid “coffee break” without the coffee!

We’re all squeezed by the work/life balance, right? Muskos expressed concern about couples who do not have enough time together, and noted that “studies” show that sex is healthy indicating sex can help boost memory, improve immunity, and lower  blood pressure,  wellness benefits which would be enjoyed by both couples and singles.

We’ll keep you posted as this story develops.
