Summer Cold – Giving It A “C” Doesn’t Earn An “A”
KIT radio newsman Lance Tormey has been dealing with a summer cold for a couple of weeks. A cold at anytime is miserable but in the summer – that’s just not fair!
So what should he do? Load up on Vitamin C, right? Maybe not.
A science review going back ten years looked at the results of 29 different studies and found that taking 200 milligrams of vitamin C every single day could make cold symptoms go away – like about one day sooner. Not so much help right there.
If you waited to start taking vitamin C until you're already sick, it holds no benefit at all. Another urban medical myth shot down in flames!
So what’s the prescription if you do catch a cold? Medical experts say your best bet is to stay hydrated and get plenty of rest (Business Insider)
