Originally, the proponents of a citywide vote on the Strong Mayor proposal were hoping for that vote to happen in this February's Special Election.  That's not going to happen but what is coming in February are a couple of opportunities to learn more about the matter.

At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, council members added a discussion of the Strong Mayor form of government to its February 4th meeting agenda.

In addition to that, the Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce's February 19, 2020 luncheon meeting will be dedicated to a comparative conversation about the City Manager and the Strong Mayor forms of government.  Guest speakers Bruce Smith and Nick Marquez will discuss the pros and cons of the systems and implications of a change.

Attending the City Council meeting is free, the Chamber luncheon has a cost.

$25 - Chamber Members, $35 - Non-Members at the Yakima Convention Center  10 N. 8th ST Yakima, WA 98901 United States  You can register in advance here.
