Do You Know All of the Stores at the Gateway Center in Yakima?

It seems stores move around and change locations all the time but there is one place we all know will stick to its own spot, and that's the Target off of Fair Ave. I didn't realize it had a special name, I always have called it "Over there by Target and them." I was today years old that the strip mall area that contains the Target store is called "Gateway Center."

GATEWAY CENTER IS LOCATED AT 102-128 N FAIR AVE IN YAKIMA, ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE YAKIMA VALLEY VISITORS CENTER

I am old enough to remember when there was an Office Max over there as well as a giant state-run liquor store located in the Gateway Center. I had some great times in that place the last couple of weeks before the liquor store had to go out of business, and many Yakimaniacs enjoyed all of the closeout sale prices! I recall how excited some local businesses were to begin selling alcohol after the passing of new Washington state liquor expansion legislation that allowed retailers and grocers to sell the products in their stores. The excitement has faded though because it takes a while before an employee comes by to help you get your liquor.

"Customer needs assistance in the Liquor Aisle." Does that ring a bell, anyone? HA!

Spirit Halloween usually rents out an empty storefront at the Gateway Center every September and October. They used to rent out the space on S 1st St that is now home to a giant tractor store, but for the past few years, Gateway has been the space. There are about 11 or 12 businesses that call the Gateway Center home now. Everything from the Target store to take-out pizza, a nail salon, a fitness gym, a financial center, dental care, and much more. Take a look!
