Still No Major Flooding Expected In The Valley This Spring

A lot of snow on the ground and warming temperatures.You'd think that would be a perfect recipe for a big flood. But Horace Ward, Senior Emergency Planner with the Yakima Valley Office of Emergency Management says like every year the valley will see small stream flooding but he doesn't expect any major flooding of the Yakima and Naches rivers. He says the snow is slowly melting with moderate temperatures and that's helping to avoid a flood.
"That and we don't have the ice buildup that we've have in past years in rivers which was a large part of the reason we had a lot of flooding."
Ward says means no big flooding expected but he says anything can happen and forecasts can change. He recommends those in flood prone areas to always be prepared.
