Two families, survivors of domestic violence and current residents in the YWCA Yakima’s transitional housing program, have been selected to be the recipients of a new used vehicle, through a generous donation by Steve Hahn, VW, Audi, KIA.  Steve Hahn became aware of the need for these courageous families to have reliable transportation in order to reach their goal of independence.

At noon today Steve Hahn and Treasa Hansen will deliver the two vehicles to the YWCA, (818 W Yakima Ave.) where the two families will receive the keys to their new cars!

The YWCA’s transitional housing program provides affordable housing where families may stay up to two years; participants receive individualized case management, agreeing to actively participate in a personalized family service plan designed to promote sustainable self-sufficiency.  One identified barrier for many of these families is safe and reliable transportation for job interviews, job activities, school, and family building activities.  Steve Hahn’s donation of two vehicles will directly address this barrier and provide assistance to help these families achieve self-sufficiency.
