Officials with The Oak Creek Wildlife Preserve are hoping you'll help save the lives of elk by not going into restricted areas to collect antlers. Capt. Richard Mann with the State Fish and Wildlife Department who says this is the time of year when many elk lose antlers and many people go out of thier way to find them because they're worth money...2 hundred to a thousand dollars or more. Mann tells our news partner KIMA Action News when people are nearby they can actually harm the animals by putting them under stress. Mann says you can be fined for being on restricted land in the State. People stealing antlers from restricted areas has become such a problem that officials with the Oak Creek Game Preserve have installed security cameras to catch those responsible for stealing the antelers and thus disturbing the animals.
