Slow down if you're driving state roads anytime soon. That's because starting Friday at 4:00 PM, the Washington State Patrol (WSP) will implement statewide emphasis patrols encouraging drivers to exercise caution on state roads. This initiative honors fallen Trooper Christopher Gadd, who tragically lost his life after being struck by an impaired driver on Interstate 5 just north of Marysville on March 2 of this year

BEFORE BEING KILLED GADD SENT A NOTE TO HIS DETACHMENT

In a heartfelt message just before his death, Trooper Gadd informed his detachment that he was planning to meet them for a break after "one more stop." This sentiment is the inspiration behind the 'One More Stop' campaign, where troopers and local officers across Washington will conduct traffic stops to emphasize safe driving behaviors.

GADD LEAVES A LEGACY

Trooper Gadd was highly respected and deeply loved within the law enforcement community. His legacy continues through his family's dedication to public service; his father is also a trooper with the WSP, while his sister serves as a trooper in Texas.

SLOW DOWN IF YOU'RE DRIVING STATE ROADS

Through this initiative, WSP aims to reduce dangerous driving behaviors and save lives on Washington roadways, all while honoring the memory of a dedicated officer. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive safely as a tribute to Trooper Gadd and to ensure the safety of themselves and others on the road.
