Yakima Fire Crews responded to a fire Tuesday morning at International Paper In Union Gap. When crews arrived they saw fire coming from one of the dust hoppers on the roof.

Crews say a Hot ember started the fire in the dust collection hopper.

The fire was contained to the hopper by the automatic sprinkler system in the unit.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire and remove the dust and debris inside the hopper and prevent any additional fire or damage to the business.

Without the sprinkler system this building could have potentially been a total loss according to firefighters.
