The Zillah School District, along with the City of Zillah and the emergency response community will participate in a Full Scale Exercise simulating an armed intruder in the building.

The exercise will run From 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at the Middle School. School Officials along with the Zillah Police and Fire Departments, Public Works and other emergency response departments and agencies from throughout the valley will participate. The exercise scenario will simulate a violent intruder where several victims will present simulated injuries. Volunteer actors will be playing roles to simulate students, teachers, concerned parents, media, and other outside influences in this exercise.

Responders will react to the situation presented by the actors and mitigate the threat. Along with our local police and fire responders, both local ambulance services, with one and maybe two medical helicopters will participate. Toppenish Community and Regional Medical and Cardiac Center hospitals will be participating and accepting our moulaged actors as simulated victims.

This is the second in a two part exercise program at the Zillah School District. The first occurred May 2, 2013 where responders and school officials were brought together to work on a similar scenario but in a much less stressful and complex Table Top Exercise. The lessons learned at the Table Top will be applied to this Full Scale Exercise.
