Central Washington University lecturer Karen Spears Zacharias is coming to Yakima to share a crime story about the true life murder of Karly Sheehan of Corvallis, Oregon.

Inklings Bookshop is thrilled to welcome Karen Spears Zacharias, author of A SILENCE OF MOCKINGBIRDS: The Memoir of a Murder (MacAdam/Cage).  This true crime narrative is a powerful, moving call to action. This is a story that will challenge and inspire an audience to act on behalf of abused children everywhere.Zacharias is a former crime beat reporter who has seen her fair share of crimes and courtroom antics but she never anticipated that she would become involved in a high-profile murder, but when Karly Sheehan, the 3-year-old daughter of a close family friend, is murdered in Corvallis, Oregon, Zacharias pieces together what happened to Karly through court documents, newspaper articles, and interviews with friends, family, law enforcement officials, and key witnesses. She reveals the failure of an entire community to protect this young child.
