Yakima signal technicians began adjusting to the sidewalk street lighting on West Yakima Avenue on Monday, Feb. 25. The work, which is expected to take several days to complete, will affect traffic on both the north and south sides of West Yakima Avenue between Seventh Avenue and Front Street. It is likely that traffic will experience intermittent interruptions while the work is in progress. Traffic may be reduced to one lane in the work zone.

The work is expected to begin by 8:00 a.m. and should end by about 5:00 p.m. each day. No work is currently scheduled for the weekends. Parking in the area will also be affected while the project is underway. As work progresses, on-street parking spaces will be closed while crews are actively making the lighting adjustments. The parking spaces to be closed each day will be barricaded in the morning before the start of work on the project and will be reopened when it is safe to do so. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes until the work is completed.

The schedule for street and traffic projects is subject to change daily, dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
