Yakima businessman Ben Shoval has decided to end his candidacy for the Washington State House of Representatives. Here is a release he sent out today.

“I wish to thank my many friends and supporters for all they did to help the campaign,” said Shoval. “We fought the good fight. We ran a clean, positive campaign that we all can be proud of.”

“But our internal polling has shown me that it is unlikely that I will win. Because of that, I could not in good conscience continue to ask my supporters to give their time, money and energy to the campaign.”

Shoval is endorsing fellow Republican Gina McCabe for the 14th District seat, which is currently held by Charles Ross, who is leaving to run for Yakima County auditor.

“I strongly support Gina McCabe for the office,” said Shoval. “She is a good, strong candidate who will represent us well in Olympia. She is an experienced businessperson and community leader. I think Gina will be an excellent state representative and I encourage my supporters to vote for her.”
