Arguably, one of William Shakespeare's greatest works is The Tragedy of Macbeth.

Whether you've seen it performed or not, you're going to want to see it this weekend presented by LaSalle High School in Yakima and performed at YVC.

Shakespeare's Macbeth at YVC in Yakima

Director Ray Pritchard provided us with all the background you'll need.

The Tragedy of Macbeth is one of Shakespeare’s more popular scripts. It tells the story of Scottish Noble Macbeth, who receives a prophesy that he will be king. Through this prophecy and his actions, as well as the manipulations of his wife, he becomes obsessed with power and ambition and consumed by guilt and madness.

Is this work considered to be a bit on the 'dark' side?

This is one of Shakespeare’s darker plays and was thought to have been first performed in 1606, however along with its popularity it does have the infamy of being the most cursed show in history. So much so, that many people don’t even refer to the play by its title of Macbeth, but simply The Scottish Play, as it is believed by some that simply uttering the name will bring the curse down upon you.

About The Cast and Crew

La Salle High School is excited to partner with Yakima Valley College for this production as we bravely take on the tragedy and the curse! The cast is comprised of all La Salle High School Students who have been working very hard since February to portray these characters. The crew is a mix of La Salle and YVC students giving both groups the ability to learn and explore the technical aspects of theatre life.
