City crews are installing flashing lights for a school zone and that's causing Temporary traffic restrictions Wednesday, May 22nd, and Thursday, May 23rd, at the intersection of South Fair Avenue and Race Street. A news release from the city of Yakima gives details.

"The work will be done from approximately 6:30 am until 12:00 pm both Wednesday and Thursday.

During the project, traffic in the southbound lane will be diverted to the middle lane to accommodate equipment that will be occupying the southbound curb lane.

Drivers can expect delays in the project area. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

Access to homes in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area."
