The down economy is effecting the local real estate market according to WSU’s Center for Real Estate research. The sale of existing Yakima County homes during the fourth quarter of last year was down more than 36 percent from the same time a year ago. The median sales price of $183,000 is off fractionally from last year as well. Statewide the sale of existing homes in the fourth quarter of 2010 was 21 percent lower than in the final three months of 2009, because of the end of Federal tax credits.
