Record Low Unemployment Numbers For City Of Yakima
If you have a job in the city of Yakima you're helping to contribute to the low unemployment rate. In fact the City of Yakima’s unemployment numbers continue at all-time record lows, according to figures released Tuesday, by the State of Washington’s Employment Security Department.
“These latest numbers reflect a continuing, positive trend for the City of Yakima,” says City Council Member and Council Economic Development Committee Chair Jason White. “It shows consistent improvement in employment opportunities for our residents.”
The numbers, which are not seasonally adjusted, show an unemployment rate of 6.8 percent in the City of Yakima for the month of February 2018. A news release from the city says that's the City’s lowest rate for the month of February since the state agency began implementing electronic records back in 1990. The February 2018 figure is down from the 7.2 percent unemployment rate in February 2017. According to the news release the Employment Security Department’s report revised the City’s unemployment rate for January 2018. That rate was initially pegged at 7.3 percent, but yesterday’s report shows the City of Yakima’s unemployment rate was 7.1 percent for January 2018, also an all-time record low for the City.
The Employment Security Department will issue its next unemployment update on Tuesday, April 24th.
