At least 4 people from West Valley and Selah suffered an illness after attending a recent cheerleading tournament on the west side of the state. Officials with the Yakima County Health District are working with state officials investigating reports of intestinal illness affecting people who attended the cheerleading tournament at the Comcast Arena in Everett on February 4th. Health district spokesperson Maryann Patnode tells KIT news.

There are reports of at least 4 kids from the Selah and West Valley areas getting sick. Those who did suffer an illness are urged to contact the Yakima County Health District communicable disease notification reporting line at 249 6541.

The Washington Interscholastic activities association hosted last Saturday's competition at Comcast Arena in Everett.  More than 3,000 people attended and more than 1,000 people in 52 squads competed in cheerleading, dance and drill events.  Surveys are being sent to participants and samples are being collected for testing. State officials are now trying to figure out what caused the illness.
