Yakima County Prosecutor Joe Brusic is reviewing a recall petition filed earlier this month naming Yakima City Council member Jason White. The petition was filed by former city council candidate and attorney Elizabeth Hallock. Brusic is now reviewing the petition and writing an overview for Yakima County Superior Court. A judge will then review the 200 word report and make a decision on whether or not the recall petition can move forward with a signature gathering campaign.
Hallock says White interfered with State, City, emergency management, public health, and hospital officials in their efforts to protect the public during a worldwide pandemic by telling people to not wear masks and go back to work going
Hallock says that constitutes among other things a violation of oath of office.

State law requires those who filed the recall to collect signatures equal to 25% of all the district 2 votes that were cast in the last election. A judge is expected to rule in the case within the next 2 weeks.
