Officials with the Central Washington State Fair say instead of a 10-day event they're planning a "fair food fest" later this year. If you listen to KIT News you heard the news last week that because of COVID-19 this year's fair has been cancelled. The fair was set for September 25 through October 4. According to a news release in the fair's 128-year history it's only been cancelled seven times. Fair officials say they watched and waited hoping to be able to still hold the fair later this year but growing COVID-19 numbers make that impossible. The loss of the fair translates into a $4 million loss for State Fair Park.
But regardless of the absence of the 10-day event a drive through ‘Fair Food Fest" is being planned for September 17 - 20th.  It will include a canned food drive, a car selfie station, entertainment and some favorite fair foods and you'll be able to enjoy it all from your car.
Details of the "Fair Food Fest" will be released soon.
The 2021 Central Washington State Fair is scheduled for September 24 - October 3rd.
