Next Generation Farm Ownership and 2022 Census of Agriculture
**Families of farmers and ranchers nearing retirement often face challenges in planning for the next generation of farm ownership.
More than 40% of California farmers are 65 or older, and the stability of agriculture is often dependent on a successful change of hands.
Many farm families are taking advantage of programs that help them with complicated details of farm estate planning.
One program, offered by California FarmLink, offers a 12-month course in transitioning ag properties.
**The IndyCar racing series will switch to an entirely renewable fuel next year.
IndyCar says that beginning in 2023, the race cars will be powered by a second-generation renewable ethanol racing fuel developed by Shell.
Executive Vice President, Carlos Maurer says, “motorsports alliances around the world provide a testing ground for fuel and lubricant technologies and products in demanding road conditions.”
**Ag producers have until June 30 to sign up to receive the 2022 Census of Agriculture.
The National Ag Statistics Service will mail ag census survey codes for responding online to every known U.S. producer in November.
Hard copies will be mailed in December.
The ag census has been conducted for more than 180 years and remains the only source of comprehensive and impartial agricultural data for every state and county in the nation.
