No big fireworks the ring in the new year are planned in Yakima tonight however the Yakima Country Club is expected to set off some fireworks for the celebration. Fireworks are banned in the city of Yakima and all the unincorporated areas of the county. Fireworks, according to the Washington State Patrol can be discharged tonight in Zillah and Mabton. The fireworks are allowed from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. January 1. It's not the only night the city isn't holding a ceremony. The Yakima city council earlier this year cut funding for the fourth of July and the Cinco De Mayo in celebrations.
