
Yakima Salvation Army Unveils New Community Center and Food Pantry
For the first time in more than 70-years the Yakima Salvation Army has a new home.
The Salvation Army officially moved into the new facility last week at 509 N. 4th Street.
It's called the Salvation Army Yakima Valley and Community Center.
STILL A LOT OF WORK TO DO INSIDE THE NEW BUILDING
Despite the fact that the Salvation Army has moved into the building a lot of work is still underway including remodeling work throughout the building that will create a new worship center and gymnasium. Lisa Sargent, Envoy of The Salvation Army Yakima Valley says new facility will allow them to serve a lot more people in the community with everything from food to family services.

A news release says the new facility includes a primary building of more than 33,000 square feet, which will cater to adults, seniors, and youth through a wide range of programs. The offerings will include gym activities, after-school care, meal programs, job training, and church services, ensuring a supportive environment for all ages.
Along with that an annex building will be transformed into The Salvation Army Hope Market to help families in need with everything from food and household items to clothing and bedding material.
MAKING AN IMPACT IN THE YAKIMA VALLEY FOR GENERATIONS
The Salvation Army has been helping families for decades in the Yakima Valley.
Established in 1894, The Salvation Army Yakima Valley Corps is the longest-running nonprofit in the Yakima Valley and now with a new home Sargent says they expect to make an even bigger impact on the community.
