New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez will be in Yakima to raise funds for WA gubernatorial candidate Rob McKenna.

Martinez is a first-term Republican elected in 2010 who has been mentioned as a possible vice presidential pick for presumed presidential nominee Mitt Romney. She is the first Hispanic female governor in U.S. history.

Meeting Martinez and McKenna will come at a price: the campaign is charging $1,000 per person for a private reception and photo opportunity prior to a lunch reception, which will cost $125 per person to attend.

The fundraiser will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 3 at Roche Fruit on North First Avenue in Yakima.

McKenna is neck-and-neck with his Democratic opponent, Jay Inslee, in fundraising. According to the campaigns’ most recent Public Disclosure Commission reports, both candidates have raised around $6.7 million. The latest polls reflect a dead heat in the race.
