Authorities have made an arrest in a drive-by shooting in Tieton Wednesday night. The victim is 20-year-old Trae Oyler who had recently moved from California into Tieton where he was studying to be a youth minister. And Wednesday night he was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting while in a car along Rosenkranz Road. Yakima County Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Mike Russell says "from all the information we've gathered the victim was just a genuine good guy who was just at the wrong place at the wrong time."
Russel says they've arrested a 27-year-old suspect from Naches who he says was apparently having a "bad" night when he pulled alongside the victims vehicle on Rosenkranz Road at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and fired shots. One shot struck Oyler who was a passenger in the vehicle. He died at the scene. The suspect faces a charge of murder in Yakima County Superior Court. Witnesses gave a good description of the suspect vehicle that was found nearby. Russell says that led detectives to make the arrest.

Yakima County Sheriff's detectives are investigating a homicide reported in the Tieton area Wednesday night. Deputies say they were called 700 block of Rosenkranz road at about 8:30 p.m. where they found 20-year-old Trae Oyler dead of a gunshot wound. Witnesses say the victim and three other companions were traveling west in a vehicle on Rosenkranz Rd when another vehicle came up behind the victim vehicle and then passed the victim vehicle while firing several rounds into the drivers side of the vehicle striking the victim.  The suspect vehicle then fled the area.  Detectives say Oyler was actively involved in a local Christian youth ministry group and there are no indications that Oyler has criminal or gang involvements. No arrests have been made as the investigation continues Today.
