More Ballots Counted Thursday Impacting District 5 Race
The Yakima County Auditors office counted 250 more ballots Thursday afternoon from Tuesday's Primary Election. Auditor Charles Ross says a majority of the ballots were from drop boxes located in city halls in the Valley. The ballots counted increased totals in a tight race for District 5 on the Yakima City Council. Soneya Lund leads the race with 684 votes. Liz Hallock continues to lead the second place spot with 606 votes and Mark Collins with 556 votes. Ross says they'll continue to count until the election is certified and counting is officially over on August 20. Ross says he expects a final voter turnout of 27%.
